Temporary Part-Time Contract

Location: Foyle Trust area, Strabane and Limavady Council Area
Hours:  21 hours per week
Salary:  £21,217 per annum (pro-rata)

Contract Type: Temporary contract up to 12 months, with potential to extend pending funding

Post Overview: – 

This post will provide you with the opportunity to contribute and make a difference to the development of a Childcare Support Service to children and young people who are experiencing or have suffered domestic abuse, by providing appropriate response to their safety and support needs.

Essential Criteria includes: –

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience in working with children and young people
  • At least a degree in Youth Work

Demonstrate experience in the following: –

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the current legislation when working with children and young people, particularly safeguarding
  • Demonstrate experience of facilitating group work programmes with young people
  • Relevant training in Child Protection/Safeguarding
  • Experience of project monitoring and evaluation
  • Proven excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office and in report writing 

Desirable Criteria: – 

  • At least 3 years’ experience working with young people
  • Demonstrate experience in working in an environment with vulnerable adults, children and young people and providing practical support
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of issues young people living in domestic abuse situations will encounter
  • Relevant training in First Aid

The successful applicant must also be required to:

  • Pass the Enhanced Access NI Check
  • Availability to take part in an on-call rota
  • Work evening and weekends on a weekly basis as a requirement of this role and flexibility in working hours

You will have the ability to work flexibly as part of a team and to take responsibility for your own work with minimum supervision, whilst having the capacity to handle pressure and to be adaptable to changing demands. Working and travel to more than one site will be required to fulfil the demands of the post.
