What is court advocacy?
- Providing court support to women who need to attend
court on any issue related to domestic violence.
Women may need to attend court about:
- Child contact
- Non molestation and occupancy orders
- Residency orders separation and divorce assault and rape
- A confidential support service around your legal needs.
- A private waiting room in the court area
- A private consultation room in the court for you and your
legal representative
- Refreshments in this private location
- A court support worker to help clarify information you have
been given during the process
- Someone who is familiar with the court and its processes
- A pre court visit if you so wish
- Access to the Pathways Outreach Centre before and after court
if necessary
- Access to Domestic Violence Officers in the Pathways Centre
to find out information on their service
- Advice on how to make statements if you so
wish
- Accompany you to solicitors
- Sign posting to other relevant services and experts to support
you e.g. forensic accountants etc
